My Family: Rob

In preparation for posting stuff about my family, I went through all of my pictures yesterday. It was partially for inspiration and partially because I love looking at pictures. I mean, who doesn't like photographs? Oh, yeah. Rob doesn't. In fact, he hates photography so much that he actively avoids the camera. We made an agreement that he would happily pose and re-pose and pose some more for the photographer at our wedding, but after that, there were no guarantees for photo-ops. He has been a real gentleman about it at family gatherings. I do have some pictures of him with a christmas tree nearby or a birthday cake flaming away, and for a good percentage of those he has a genuine smile on his face. Most of my pictures of him, however, are more like this:

That look on his face is saying something like, "I've had enough of your shenanagoats, ril."
Actually, he may be eating something too. It's probably a combination of the two.

I love photography. I love taking pictures of my family and my friends -- I even love taking pictures of inanimate objects at times, given that they are interesting or pretty or something about them intrigues me. Rob, though, just don't like it. I try to be understanding about the situation and if someone, say at a party or something, starts to get too aggressive with the camera I get a touch protective of him. My head may be saying "get out of his face, dammit" but usually I just say, "he really doesn't like getting his picture taken. So, you know, don't bother about it." See how diplomatic I can be? Because of this personality quirk, I also have a few pictures like this:

Look at the bottom center to right. Yep, there he is.
If you had seen his face, when he saw this picture it said something like, "I'd like to reinstate my previous claim of shenanigans."

So, that's my partner in life. Both of these pictures were taken during our holiday in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia a few years ago. It was during this vacation that I learned that even though he pretty much hates hiking, he will do it if it looks like his mom wants to. She is kind of a hiking fanatic. If it hadn't been for the hikes, I would never have gotten these pictures.

In conclusion, I leave you with this question: "Is your uh, is your wife interested in... photography, eh? "photographs, eh" he asked him knowingly.
